Tuesdays: Hiking @ Temescal Gateway Park

When: 9:00 a.m. sharp

Where: Temescal Gateway Park parking lot at the northwest corner of Sunset Blvd. and Temescal Canyon Road. Parking passes will be provided.

Event Details:

    • September 30: We will walk the beach from Venice to Ballona Lagoon, brunch at a nearby restaurant and return along the colorful boardwalk, for about 6 painless miles
    • October 14: For a real change of pace, from Culver City we will take the new Expo Line and explore historic downtown Los Angeles
    • November 18: We will be given a guided tour of the King Gillette Ranch, now headquarters of the National Park Service, State Parks and the Conservancy, with perhaps a short hike on nearby trails.
    • December 9: A special evening walk along the now-ritzy Venice canals to see the Christmas lights and with luck the colorful boat parade. Afterwards some may choose to dine at one of the restaurants along Washington Blvd.
      Please Note: For this hike we will meet at 5:00 p.m.
    • January 13, (not 8th): Our always interesting Palisades historian, Randy Young will lead us on a walk and talk perhaps around Rustic Canyon. but Randy has yet to reveal his plan.
  • February 3 (or 17th if rain cancels): We will walk from Zuma Beach, watch for whales as we pass over Point Dume and along the beach for brunch at Paradise Cove. Expect brunch to cost about $15. If you would like to join us please tell Carol or leave a message at 310-454-4188 as we need to make a reservation. This is a fairly easy round trip of about five miles.
  • Please Note: For this hike we will meet at 8:00 a.m. in order to arrive at Paradise Cove ahead of the lunch hour.
